We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.
It is our endeavor to nourish the future of the country with food and knowledge. The Naik Foundation believes that one can reach out to the hearts of millions by feeding them wholesome nutritious meals daily which facilitates day to day living. - Ms. Neeska Naik, Trustee, Naik Foundation
Naik Foundation envisions a Hunger Free India. Providing nutritious, fresh and wholesome meals
to school children is the first step in this direction.
The Foundation has been working with the Government of Maharashtra since 2009 and Government
of Gujarat since 2011 to provide mid-day meals. The Foundation currently provides mid-day meals
to around 15000 school children in about 100 schools in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra and to around 70000
school children in about 750 schools in Navsari, Gujarat.
The meals are prepared in the two centralized kitchens, located in Bhiwandi and Navsari, which
have been custom designed with state of the art facilities incorporating the ISO 9001 and ISO 22000
standards. The centralized kitchen in Maharashtra is spread over 9,000 sq. ft. while the one in
Gujarat is spread over 15,000 sq. ft.
Every morning (other than school holidays) 42 vehicles distribute the food prepared from the dust
free kitchens to schools within 100 kms radius in 5000+ stainless steel containers.
The Foundation also provides meals to workers at brick kilns and further provides food provisions to ashram schools. Additionally, the Foundation provides meals to laborers under the Annapurna program in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat.
The Mid-Day meal has not only encouraged parents to enroll their kids in schools, but is the reason that kids remain in school. Sometimes, the Mid-Day meal is the only proper meal the child gets in the entire day. We find them taking some of the remaining food home and we don’t mind it, since we know someone hungry is going to get a nice meal Mr. M. Phadke, Teacher
